Jess Wagner, Owner

Jess Wagner is a 29 year old professional artist currently residing in Boise, Idaho.  Jess grew up in Buffalo, New York, where up until 20 years old she had never even seen snow capped mountains. In 2017, she accepted a seasonal job in the Grand Teton National Park, and left her familiar life in the city of Buffalo for the wild and open spaces of Wyoming. Jess has never returned, and has called places as Wyoming, Arizona, California, Oregon, Alaska, and now Idaho, home. She has spent several years working seasonal jobs and traveling solo, and that has fueled much of her creativity.
Jess’ studio has been as ever changing as her location, anywhere from her 2009 Kia Sportage that she lived in for a few months while she was solo traveling, the red dirt of Utah deserts, the garage she rented in Jackson, Wyoming for a winter, the tiny bedroom in a trailer in Grand Canyon, Arizona, the porch in the Grand Teton National Park, a tiny cabin on the Cook Inlet in Alaska, a commercial building in Idaho. Jess’ studio is now located in her apartment, in Boise’s coziest neighborhood.
Jess’ art is “reminiscent of the west” and all that it entails.  From flora to fungi, to its mountain peaks and alpine lakes.  Jess conveys these elements through painting and block printing, and draws inspiration from her time spent in the West.
Jess is entirely a self taught artist, and works primarily in fine art, focusing on acrylic and gouache. Jess is also a printmaker, and has a sustainable clothing brand, Equinox Fox Goods, where she only prints on up-cycled, secondhand clothes that were otherwise destined for the landfills or to be overlooked in thrift stores.
She is the sole owner and employee of her business, and does everything from working every single event, to all photography, social media, website design, and product design. Jess also teaches art classes in Boise.
Jess is also a muralist, working with clients such as ACHD and Choice Hotels, and other local businesses.
Jess is also the owner and founder of the Sagebrush Collaborative, an artist collective that organizes curated art markets and is a brick + mortar shop located in Southeast Boise.
When she’s not painting, she is exploring in the mountains with her dog, Tanana, spending time in her community, or traveling for fine art shows across the Mountain West. She enjoys backpacking, hiking, fly fishing, mountain biking, plein air painting, driving on the roads throughout the West, and exploring new coffee shops.

In 2022, Jess was honored to create a collection for the Grand Teton National Park. Six original paintings were for sale, with the proceeds directly benefitting the park, through the Grand Teton Association. Several of her prints, stickers, and greeting cards were also for sale in their park stores.
